Parade of Flags Lincoln City
The Parade of Flags is a patriotic display along HWY 101, honoring the community and supporting scholarships for Taft graduates. Placed on nine holidays each year (weather permitting), it’s a proud celebration of unity and tradition. When you sponsor a flag, you will receive a window cling to display your support of the program, as well as have your business logo or name placed among sponsors below. At just $40 per year, this is a community investment everyone can afford!

What Holidays do the flags get placed for?Flags are put up on MLK Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Patriot's Day, and Veteran's Day.
Why is it weather permitting?While we wish we could place the Parade of Flags regardless of weather, our flag storage does not permit the ability to dry the flags if they get wet, which would result in a lot of musty, moldy flags. This would defeat the spirit of the program and be a huge expense to the Kiwanis Club, which would take away from the kids.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can sponsor a flag?Anyone! This is a great opportunity to show support for your community and we welcomes businesses, individuals, and other organizations to sponsor a flag. Businesses often have the flag placed in front of their business, but we have many individuals and families who sponsor flags along 101 as well!
Where can I have my flag placed?We place the flags on HWY 101 or within a few blocks of the highway. The goal is to line the main thoroughfare of Lincoln City with flags.
Can I just buy a flag from Kiwanis?Currently we do not sell flags.
How many scholarships do you provide?We provide scholarships in $1000 allotments to each recipient. We provide as many as we can each year, generally ranging from 8 to 10. To qualify for scholarships, students must attend Taft High School, and submit an application that includes there academic record, a recommendation from a staff member, and an essay. This is followed by a panel interview to get to know the students better.
